IVACON 2021 - The Virtual Experience

Frequently asked questions

Answers to some common questions

What can I expect at this event?

This event is one of many events hosted by the Institute for Vocal Advancement.

It’s designed for you to learn the necessary steps and strategies required to be an effective voice teacher.

Over the course of two events, we’ll have a series of powerful sessions taught by the IVA Master Teachers, Ambassadors, Mentors, and other high-level guest speakers.

When is IVACON 2021 happening?

IVACON 2021 will run on two separate time zones:

  • April 12–15, 2021, from around 9 a.m.– 6 p.m. PDT (Los Angeles time)
  • May 13–16, 2021, from around 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. CEST (Munich time)

If you can’t make all of the sessions, recordings are provided for IVA Teachers that you’ll be able to download or stream online.

Will this virtual format still be a fun and community-building experience?

Absolutely! IVACON 2020 was a 100% virtual experience, and it was fantastic. There was a lot of fun, casual conversations going on. Attendees in the chat were able to share experiences and, of course, learn with other teachers of all different experience levels.

While you might think, “I’ll just buy the recordings later,” nothing can replace the community feeling when you’re in the chat, interacting, laughing, and hanging out with other teachers.

Who will be leading the classes?

These classes and workshops will be led by a mixture of IVA Master Teachers, Ambassadors, and Mentor Instructors. We’ll also have a range of guest speakers who will be delivering classes that will further enhance your teaching experience.

Where is IVACON 2021 happening?

IVACON 2021 will happen entirely online! The event will be hosted on Zoom, which is a free piece of software you install with apps for desktop, mobile devices, and tablets, meaning you can join in wherever you want!

Will I still learn just as much?

Definitely! In fact, you may even learn more than in-person. The virtual experience eliminates some of the inefficiencies of in-person events, allowing us to deliver extra sessions.

Some of our 2020 attendees commented that it was actually better because they could discuss voice assessments or ask questions from more experienced teachers without interrupting the instructor.

What if I have an idea for a session?
